“After over decade in the wellness industry, everything I thought I knew about health and fitness was completely turned upside down.”
a little about me personally
I am a wife, and a mom to two awesome humans. My favorite color is purple. I am an introvert, an Enneagram 9, and an unashamed cat lady. I love UGA football, Atlanta Braves baseball, and Elvis Presley. My favorite food is peanut butter, and I even put it on my hot dogs. (yes, you read that right!)
And one of my very favorite things is helping people realize that they are so much more than a body, and supporting them in walking away from diet culture into a life of freedom!
After attending my very first group fitness class, I knew leading others in fitness classes was what I wanted to do. I quickly got my group fitness certification and began teaching cardio kickboxing. While I honed my group fitness coaching skills, I began studying to become a certified personal trainer and in 2011 began working with individuals 1:1. I teach a variety of classes - cardio kickboxing, Zumba/dance fitness, cross-training, HIIT, Tabata, bootcamp, fitness boxing, and aqua aerobics. I have worked with hundreds of clients one on one as well.
In 2021 I added RYT-200hr and began teaching Power Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Slow Burn Yoga and Yin Yoga from a Trauma-Informed perspective. In 2023 I became certified in Aerial Yoga and began teaching Aerial Yoga Level 1, Aerial Strength and Aerial Yin Yoga. And most recently, I completed an Aqua Aerobics certificate and have taught this fun class at Apartment Complexes and Hotel pools. In 2023 Hether Crawford Coaching hosted its first Yoga & Wellness Retreat, Empower & Flow!
my journey from restriction &
obsession to flexibility & compassion
I have worked with hundreds of clients in groups and one on one, hosted large fitness events and run weight loss competitions.
But after a decade in the wellness industry, everything I thought I knew about health and fitness was completely turned upside down. I was side-lined from fitness after a surgery and began to see an unhealthy pattern in myself that I later learned was an eating disorder called Orthorexia. I also began to see an alarming trend in my clients. Almost all of the clients that I had helped lose weight were beginning to gain it back, coming back to do my programs again and again. And they lost weight again. But did they achieve better health? Some, temporarily. Did they have more love and acceptance toward their body? No. Did they find joy in their lifestyle? Also, no. (one reason they kept on this cycle maybe) Did they keep the weight off this time? Nope!
I knew there had to be a better way…a HEALTHIER way to lead a lifestyle that brought joy and flexibility along with wellness. A way that promoted longevity over quick “fixes.” A way that worked fitness INTO your life, instead of working your life around fitness…
And then I found Intuitive Eating and Movement. I began leaning into body neutrality and HAES. I found trusted professionals and went through therapy and coaching myself. Not only did all this lead me into recovery, but it revolutionized my coaching model.
My coaching practice has gone from a food rules and no days off mentality to intuitive eating and joyful movement. I am still SO PASSIONATE about helping people improve their health and fitness, but I no longer coach people in intentional weight loss - and I’m super proud of that!
what working with me looks like
Together we’ll work through your self-limiting beliefs to improve your body image, and practice being intentional with your health and fitness without restriction or obsession.
Through my online group coaching, private coaching, virtual and in-person personal training, group fitness and yoga you’ll learn from a non-diet, Health at Every Size perspective. That means I’ll never tell you to deprive yourself or ban certain foods from your life or to move in a way that does not serve you. Instead, I help you recognize diet culture for the life thief that it is, and tune into your body's own inner wisdom about how to move and truly nourish yourself. I’ll never encourage you to push through pain, to “go hard or go home” or to “never miss a monday.” That only breeds resentment (lacking motivation), and we’re looking to be fit long-term (flexible consistency)!
You’ll learn to identify and listen to your inner cues for when to challenge yourself and when to rest, and I’ll be there cheering you on!
